2 Spicy is een nieuwe SEGA game. Arcade.
't Ziet er best cool uit en het schijnt een veelbelovende lightgun shooter te zijn. Ben benieuwd (of ik 'm ooit zal spelen...).

I like 2SPICY...it's an interesting concept, but it does have it's quirks.
My poor translation dictates the story is about android representatives for a dying human race in the year 20XX? I wouldn't put it past Japan. Well, I like these sort of concepts, so I'll allow it for now.
The combat is 1v1 - both players get their own screen, gun and pedals. The HUD is similar to that of a fighting game (life bars, timer, number of wins, etc) plus the system contains aspects found in fighters (combo hits, counter hits, okizeme).
You play in arenas where you and the other player are on opposite sides...you navigate using the pedals to go left and right, double stepping to execute a roll (you can still shoot in this position). Each area has destroyable areas that can aid you in battle - plus, some areas favour some characters, though Ming Hua seems to be the only character who's good for all of them.
2SPICY also has a zoom feature where if you study your opponents movement, you eventually zoom onto your target, allowing you to inflict more damage with greater accuracy and nab that all important head shot (headshots are only obtained via zoom - they do decent damage and you can follow up with hits after it has connected).
Each characters come with 2 colours - the 2nd colour can only be used in a mirror match. I couldn't get to use yellow and black Ming Hua, which saddened me :,<
The game's fun and can get quite hectic. There were 6 characters to choose from in the game - and they're getting listed in order of effectiveness!
1. Alexander
After playing a lot, it seems as though he's the best character. His zoom is extremely fast and effective, has a fast firing rate, packs power and he moves at a decent speed - he also has defence, so he won't simply die without a fight. Headshots end up being a regular thing. Only downside is that he has a small magazine as he uses a pistol with a sight.
2. Charlie
Though his attack power is low, he's great at destroying stuff and chipping in with damage. He's also a fast mover and his zoom ain't that bad. Has the highest firing rate seen as he uses a machine gun and has decent health.
3. Ming Hua
It's as if Viola actually came back from her ashy grave - she's great. Ming Hua uses double pistols and despite being the character who can't take hits well, she's a fast mover and her shooting strength is great. Her zoom is a bit s**t but managable. She's also the only character who can fight on all maps without a great deal of trouble seen as she's a pretty versatile character, having 20 bullets at her disposal.
4. Sicks
This guy seems pretty cool and has the added advantage of having a camouflage run, making him hard to see whilst darting for cover. His weapon of choice is a revolver, so he only has 6 shots to make things happen. He doesn't seem to take damage well, but his shots pack a punch. Possibly the fastest mover in the game? His zoom is similar to Ming Hua's - not fast, but can work in the right situation.
5. Laurence
Your big guy - he uses a shotgun, so he's another decent character to use to blow s**t up with. Headshots also take TINGS apparently. Seen as he uses the shotgun, reload times are somewhat long and he only has 4 shots. He's also god damn slow...though he has the best armour.
6. Tetsuya
Main guy, average everything. He uses a single pistol. If you don't like Ming Hua (impossible) then Tetsuya is for you...though he's nothing special at all.
The movement is really awkward and inconsistent, which makes it troublesome to get into position to land the killing blow - add to that the reloading, as it can happen at pretty much any time. Pedal moving takes a while to get used to and moving like a fool will get you killed!
The gas station map is the worst map ever. The Japanese city map isn't so bad and the two levels set in underground environments are probably the best ones.
Anyway, enough talk of 2SPICY - I just find it a cool and different game. This game and MKGP2 are probably the only games worthy of anyones time...and maybe ABC if you haven't played it.

So hopefully you can understand how the game works, but how does it play? Honestly it took me about 2 minutes to get used to the controls. It was a little disorientating at first, as I am not so used to using a lightgun on a 3rd person game and you do need to have a conscious grasp of what you feet are doing. Unlike Time Crisis, where releasing the pedal simply brings you up to shoot and you can absentmindedly press the pedal without the worry of messing up and getting shot, in Too Spicy you need to be aware of how far you have moved along your section of the arena and where in relation to objects of cover you are. Should you start pressing down on one of the pedals without any care, you will leave yourself wide open to attack. So you do need to be strategic in operating the pedals. But like I said, it took me only a couple of minutes to grasp the controls and start kicking some ass!

Toyohashi, Japan.
